I like backlighting a lot, especially when the light shines through and illuminates beautiful colors, like those of this tulip in a neighbor’s garden.

Lovely- you know I love backlight. Great texture- and even a little spider photobombing from below!
Thanks. Usually I notice the “bonus bugs” in my photos, but I missed the little one that you pointed out.
I love the detail in your photo. It begs you to touch it, and feel it.
Thanks, Charlie. I was happy (and a little surprised) to be able to capture so much of the detail. I was so close to the flower that I didn’t even capture the entire bloom. I used to think that I needed to photograph whole items, but now I really enjoy concentrating on parts of items and don’t worry if I cut off part of them (except, perhaps, if it is a person)
Sensational. You feel as though the tulip will slip into the palm of your hand any minute.
Thanks. I was happy that I was able to capture it so well, thanks to my macro lens. I am glad that you like it.
Loved it. Beside having a great lens it took patience and care to achieve the result, I’m sure
Nice shot!
Very nice venture into the abstract. It’s a very effective crop, and I really like that you’ve left the mysterious hint of deeper red in the lower corners. While enjoying that, I spotted your little spider, and see from your other comments that I wasn’t the first.
It wasn’t much of a crop at all. Somehow when I put my macro lens on my camera, I have this desire to get in as close as I possibly can, even if it means capturing only part of a subject.
