The sun was almost directly in front of me, a situation that is usually not optimal for photographs, but I really liked the interplay of the light and the shadows on this white and yellow daffodil.
It’s definitely a side of the daffodil that is not featured very often, but it is a lesson for me of the value of looking for new perspectives. I like image that I managed to get by looking at the flower from the other side.

Yes it really shows the translucency of the petals, beautiful!
Thanks. I love shooting into the sun if I can somehow manage to avoid glare. Last year I got a cool shadow of an ant when he was crawling across a flower in a similar lighting situation.
Ah yes, the beauty from the other side. Almost sounds philosophical.
You caught me and I am guilty as charged. Maybe I think too much, but, as you know all too well, I often can’t control my impulse to shift a discussion of photography into broader areas. That’s one of the reasons why I was so taken with your recent posting on deletion.
Photography seems to lend itself so well to shifting discussion to other areas.
I like the way the light comes through the petals. It is a different perspective than I am use to, but I really like it.
I like shots like this too, and look for opportunities.
It is simply gorgeous. Thank you for sharing it~
Thanks. I am glad that you like it. Last year when I started taking more photos, I took lots of pictures of flowers and it’s nice to have some of them blooming again.
