Here is a splash of color to start the work week—a close-up shot of the inside of a deep purple tulip called Negrita. I photographed this flower while visiting an orchid exhibit at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond, Virginia this past weekend.

Thanks, Lyle. The big advantage to shooting this kind of a shot for me is that I can take my time with it, because the subject is not going to run away or fly away. Oh, there is still a lot to think about, but it’s a different mental process.
Yes it’s quite different when you’re worried about your subject leaving!
