Bees were one of my initial subjects when I started photographing insects six months ago. Even now, I can’t resist snapping a few shots whenever I see them. I never expected to encounter them in late October, however, so it was a nice surprise yesterday, when I was able to capture these images of bees at work (and a skipper too).

wonderful macros
Thanks. I love taking close-up photos of flowers and insects, sometimes with a dedicated macro lens and sometimes (as was the case here) with my telephoto zoom lens.
If you’re still seeing spider webs there must be a lot of different insects that are still active.
Indeed. I am hopeful that they will be around for another month or two (it’s quite a bit warmer here in Virginia than there in New Hampshire).
Neat shots, I’ll have a Skipper and a Bee for my Macro Monday tomorrow..:-)
I think any insects this time of year are a treat. Particularly enjoyed the skipper one.
Thanks…and I definitely agree about fall insects being a treat (for the eyes, though, and not for the stomach)
The bee is beautiful. Do you think it might be a Bumble bee? It looks fluffy enough but I know that is not the defining feature.
Thanks. I think that it is a bumblebee. Earlier this year I photographed some carpenter bees that look a lot like bumblebees but have shiny abdomens rather than being hairy.
Bumblebees are my favourites!
